The City of Brandon provides residents with weekly collection of recyclables to all single family residences and smaller multi-family residences with 6 units or less. The City of Brandon processes co-mingled recycling which means there is no sorting required.
Excess materials can be dropped off at one of the recycling depots located throughout the City, as listed below.
Note: If using bags to place materials in your blue cart use clear or blue bags as any other bags will be considered contamination and therefore will be landfilled.
The City of Brandon provides weekly collection of garbage through its black collection cart similar to blue cart program. Do not place any materials that are easily airborne into the cart loose (i.e. sawdust or drywall dust).
All material placed in this cart will be landfilled. Do not place blue or clear bags in this cart if your intention is to recycle the material.
Excess material should be either saved for the next collection day or can be self-hauled to the Eastview Landfill Site for disposal.
Please take any oversized items to the landfill. Do not leave beside cart or in the back lane.
The City of Brandon Green Cart Program provides curbside collection of yard trimmings, food scraps, and food soiled paper products from single family residences on a voluntary basis through the seasonally warmer months (mid-April – mid-November).
The bulky item collection program is a user pay system in accordance with the City of Brandon fee schedule. It operates year round on a scheduled basis. At this time one week per month is dedicated to this service. Please visit the website for more detailed information on what would be considered for collection within this program and any special instructions that may be required.
The Christmas Tree Depot is located at the Keystone Centre in the South East corner of the property. This depot is for real trees only and should have all decorations and plastic coverings removed.
The City of Brandon operates an Eco-Centre at the Eastview Landfill Site. This depot is for the collection of used oil, filters and containers along with used antifreeze and its containers. For more information, contact the Sanitation Section at (204)729-2281.
The City of Brandon operates the Eastview Landfill Site located at 3300 Victoria Avenue East. This site is accessible to commercial and residential users. At this site, a commercial or residential customer is able to drop off material to be landfilled, recyclables to be processed at our Material Recovery Facility, or segregated organics material for grinding or composting.
As a Class 1 Landfill our license states that we cannot accept liquid into the landfill. If your jugs or drums contain a liquid, it may be classified as hazardous waste and must go to our HHW building or the Eco Center at the Eastview Landfill for proper disposal.
For the proper disposal of ammunition or firearms please contact the Brandon Police Service main line at (204) 729-2345. If residing outside the City of Brandon, please contact your local RCMP detachment.
Important: Please do not deliver the aforementioned items to the station on your own.
There are a number of special programs that the City of Brandon participates in in order to divert waste from the landfill tipping face and provide options for residents who wish to do the same. At this time there are 13 Industry Stewardship Programs that residents may participate in.
